Citizen Designer: Perspectives on Design Responsibility is a collection of essays which explore topics like social and political change, clientele behavior, the purpose and service of design, and a designer’s moral values. The project goal was to redesign the 2003 book so its content could be revived and relived by today’s readers. The solution includes a cover illustration which suggests a world where thoughtful designers are being pushed out by robotic designers who merely generate work with no regards to ethics. Pink is carried through the design to invoke compassion and creativity. The pairing of a sans serif with a serif symbolizes the blend of modernity with tradition, another important question which arises in the text.
